Compensation of Academic Loss Programme (CALP)
The Compensation of Academic Loss Programme (CALP) in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is a school‑level initiative designed to make up for academic time lost by students who are absent due to participation in various co‑curricular, cultural or competitive activities (such as sports, exhibitions, Scout & Guide, etc.) at regional or national levels. Under CALP, continuity of learning is maintained through special classes at the event venue, followed by extra or remedial classes in the home school on return. Teachers identify learning gaps due to missed lessons and help students catch up via zero‑period classes, conversion of free or miscellaneous periods, and focused attention on difficult subjects. For board classes, special emphasis is placed on revision, practising past questions, and strengthening foundational concepts. Overall, CALP ensures no student is academically disadvantaged due to representing the school in extra‑scholastic endeavours.
